I'm thinking about doing a huge expose on "THE SECRET" and the "law of attraction". If Oprah is now on board with this "new religion" I figure we better hop on the gravy train and give the people what they want. Here's an article on just what The Secret is and howw you can apply the principles to achieve fortune and happiness.
The secret, what is it?
by: Victoria Stevens
I watched the movie The Secret almost a year ago, and since then it seems as if I am constantly running into people who have seen it and loved it. Thus, I have begun the habit of assuming that others know what the Law of Attraction is, have seen The Secret, and have started consciously attracting the lives they desire. I just spoke with two good friends whom I have not been in contact with for many months, and it turns out neither one of them had ever heard of the Secret or the Law of Attraction. This article provides a short description of the movie The Secret, as well as a description of the underlying theory, the Law of Attraction. Also provided are some clues from science and modern research about the mechanisms underlying the Law of Attraction.
The Secret is a movie, available on DVD to rent or buy, which was released in March 2006. It deals with how our thoughts are translated into our physical reality. The idea is that what we focus on, think about, talk about, and most importantly, get emotional about, will determine the nature and character of our physical reality. The concept is both simple and profound. The mechanism by which our thoughts create our reality is the Law of Attraction.
According to the Law of Attraction, our thoughts attract actions, people and circumstances which are vibrationally similar to our thoughts. If we think negative, doom and gloom thoughts, we are more likely to experience events in our lives that are negative and reinforce the doom and gloom mentality. For example, if we drive into the city visualizing the perfect parking space we desire, with the confident, happy expectation that it will be available for us, we will be more likely to find a parking space where we want it. However, if we drive into the city with fear and apprehension about how difficult it is to find a parking space, we will invariably find ourselves driving around unsuccessfully looking for one.
How does this Law of Attraction Work? Are there mechanisms, now known to science, by which the Law of Attraction could operate? There are potential ways in which it could. Understanding this becomes easier when one thinks of a few facts:
* Neurons exhibit electrical properties, and thoughts are the products of the neurons in the brain.
* Science tells us that all matter is made up of smaller and smaller units, which, ultimately, are made up of probability fields of energy.
* Energy can be converted into matter and vice versa (E = mc2).
* Humans, when deprived of electromagnetic energy begin to sob uncontrollably, and when given larger-than-normal amounts of electromagnetic energy, feel better and experience heightened states of consciousness (see the "Mu room" experiments conducted in the Physics Department at U.C.L.A., discussed in Infinite Mind, by Valerie Hunt).
Electromagnetic energy is just as essential to life as food and water. We are electromagnetic beings, and it is helpful to become aware of that. Energy affects the human body, and we affect the energy field around us. You may test the Law of Attraction for yourself. Start reading and thinking about the Law of Attraction, and start affirming only positive statements. If you find that difficult, notice the effects of your negative thoughts. Take back and re-phrase any negative statements you discover coming out of your mouth. Train yourself to always look for the silver lining instead of commenting and joking about how messed up everything is. Try that for thirty days and then discover for yourself the efficacy of the Law of Attraction. You may discover that what you say always seems to come true. You may discover that the Law of Attraction works.
